Election Information


Upcoming Elections - Election Day Polls OPEN at 7:00 a.m. and CLOSE at 8:00 p.m.
March 10, 2020 - Presidential Primary - There are only TWO Ballot Types available:
        Republican Party - Sample Ballot 
        Democratic Party - Sample Ballot 
        *Only ONE Ballot Type may be requested per voter
May 5, 2020 - Possible School/Special Election
August 4, 2020 - State Primary
November 3, 2020 - Presidential General Election

Voter Registration
The next scheduled election will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2020. The last day to register by mail or in person anywhere, including the Walker City Clerk's office, for this election is Monday, February 24, 2020. February 25 through 8pm on Tuesday, March 10th you can only register in-person with the Walker City Clerk's office (must show proof of residency). Contact the City Clerk at 616-791-6865 for more information.

To register to vote, visit any Secretary of State’s Office, the Clerk’s Office or return the completed voter registration application to the Clerk's Office.

Verify You are Registered to Vote
Contact the Clerk’s Office or visit the Michigan Voter Information Center  of the State of Michigan website to determine if you are registered in the City of Walker.  Also, visit the Michigan Election and Voter Information page where you can look up your voter status, register to vote, and it also provides candidate information links and lots of other useful information.

Permanent Absentee Voter List 
Voters who request to be placed on our Permanent Absentee Voter list will automatically receive an absent voter application prior to each election. The voter must fill out the application and return it to the clerk's office to receive a ballot for that election. No more waiting in lines at the precinct. Vote in the convenience of your own home.  If this appeals to you, email your request at elections@walker.city. Please be sure to include your name, date of birth and address. 

Absentee Ballot
Absentee ballots can be obtained in-person during normal business hours or by filling out an Application for an Absentee Ballot and returning to the Clerk’s Office. You can also fax the completed application to 616-791-6881 or by email.

Military / Overseas Voters
Military personnel or US citizens currently overseas, visit www.fvap.gov for Federal Postcard Application Instructions or contact the Clerk’s Office with any questions.
