Beginning 6 a.m. Monday, March 1, the City of Walker will join neighboring cities and counties in adhering to, and enforcing, seasonal weight and speed restrictions. The purpose is to protect the integrity of our roads as spring approaches and frost comes out of the ground.
On roads with seasonal restrictions, legal loads must be reduced by approximately 35% and speeds for vehicles over 10,000 pounds reduced to 35 mph.
For truck-related questions, the Kent County Road Commission advises those to call the Michigan Center for Truck Safety at 1-800-MTA- 4MTA (1-800-682-4682).
The KCRC Seasonal Weight and Speed Restriction Hotline: 616-336-2019.
