In the 12 years since being elected as Walker City Clerk, I have worked to streamline procedures and processes to ensure accurate records management, agenda processing and the Election Day process within Walker. Walker was the first City to implement the Electronic Pollbook in Kent County in 2009 at all 9 precincts.
As an avid believer in democracy and getting young people involved, I work closely with Kenowa Hills High School to hold mock elections and voter demonstrations, while promoting students to work at precincts on Election Day.
I received my Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) in my first 2 ½ years as City Clerk by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) and have now obtained the prestigious (MMC) in just 9 years.
As a member of the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks (MAMC) I have earned my Certified Municipal Michigan Clerk designation (CMMC) knowing the value and commitment of education.
I was appointed to the State of Michigan Bureau of Elections Advisory Board to research new election equipment and served on the committee to improve and update election forms for voters. I am very active with election legislation and the Council of Election Officials (CEO) and have testified before the legislative election committee as to the impact of pending legislation and laws on Clerks and Voters.
Locally, I have also served the Kent County Clerks Association (KCCA), as Secretary and President.
I am a member of the Walker AMBUCS since 2009 and participate in fundraising events to help AMBUCS raise money for amtrykes for area children.
I am also a Director on the Grandville-Walker Foundation Executive Board.
I have two sons, one living in Kansas, the other in California, both whom attended Kenowa Hills Public Schools. I also have two amazing daughters-in-law and three adorable grandchildren.
