Commissioner Carol Glanville

Hello, friends, and neighbors of Walker. My name is Carol Glanville, and I'm proud to have been appointed in January of 2019 by a unanimous commission vote to serve alongside Roxanne Deschaine representing Ward 2 which covers the northwest corner of the city.

I've lived in Ward 2 for nearly 10 years. Over that time, I've truly made it home, serving as President of the Friends of the Fred Meijer Standale Trail, volunteering as a precinct election chair, and participating in the Kenowa Hills District School Improvement Committee. And you may recognize me as an admin and founding partner of the Citizens of Walker Facebook page.

As a Grand Rapids area native, I've watched Walker grow from a relatively rural community to the bustling suburb it is today, serving as a vital corridor between Allendale and downtown Grand Rapids. I've also lived outside of Michigan in large urban areas both domestically and abroad. As a result, I'm passionate about place-making and urban development. One of my priorities is to help Walker grow into an area that attracts young professionals and families with amenities and housing options that align with their expectations. As an MSU certified Master Gardener, I'm also dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and stewardship. I'm looking forward to engaging in this work on the committees I've been assigned to:

  • Building
  • Finance
  • Traffic
  • County Waste to Energy

Professionally, I'm a 25 year veteran of education. I've worked in all school settings pre-k-16; public, private, and charter either as a classroom teacher or administrator. I have a BA in Spanish Education and an M.Ed. in Technology and Curriculum Design. I currently own an educational consulting firm, Contemporary Education Solutions, which provides training, professional development, and coaching to schools and districts. My primary focus is on supporting technology integration and Design Thinking in schools.

My husband is a die design engineer. His business, Cutting Edge Die Design, is also based here in Walker. I have two stepsons; a sophomore at Aquinas and a senior at Kenowa. I'm excited for what the future holds for them and strive to be a solid role model for them in my role as a Commissioner.

As an appointed official, I want to make an extra effort to get to know my constituents. Please feel free to contact me any time at the following email or reach out to me on Twitter (@caglanville) or Facebook.
