The City of Walker is planning to improve the intersection of Center Dr. and Weatherford Dr.
These improvements include removing the existing traffic signal and inserting a single lane roundabout, installing pedestrian safety islands, and reconfiguring driveways in the immediate area of the intersection. Funding will be a combination local funds and a Carbon Reduction Grant.
The design for this project is ongoing and will be completed in the next couple of months. Then the City will work with the Michigan Department of Transportation to solicit bids from contractors. If bids are favorable, construction is scheduled to start in the spring of 2024.
We're holding an Open House on November 13, from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm in the City Commission Chambers, located at 4243 Remembrance Road. Engineers and City staff will be there to discuss the project and answer any questions you may have. There will not be a formal presentation.
Please reach out to project engineer, Tim Hoffert at (616) 363-9801 or thoffert@mbce.com if you have questions in advance, or cannot attend the open house.
