[ARCHIVED] Road Closures for Amway River Bank Run

Race logo of cartoon runner

This Saturday, May 14, is the annual Amway River Bank Run. The 25k course will again utilize roadways in the south areas of Walker.

HARD SHUT DOWNS of the listed intersections will begin at 8 AM and last until around 11 AM. There will also be ONLY ONE lane of northbound Wilson Avenue open for vehicle traffic over the Grand River.

INTERSECTION CLOSURES:

Maynard/Butterworth
Veteran's Memorial/Riverbend
Veteran's Memorial/Butterworth
Butterworth/Wilson

* These are all roads around Johnson/Millennium Park.  Plan accordingly *

SPECTATOR INFO:

If you plan to view the runners, the Walker Police Department suggests utilizing the frisbee golf lot at Veteran's Memorial and Butterworth street. It will be accessible if you enter from the north and it allows a great view of runners as they pass that point.

PLEASE DO NOT PARK STREETSIDE ON WILSON AVE OR IN THE CURVED AREAS OF BUTTERWORTH.

This creates dangerous traffic hazards for pedestrians & passing motorists. Also, if you plan to view the runners from inside Millennium or Johnson Park, you will have to be in the park BEFORE the roads are shut down at 8 AM and you MUST stay there until ALL runners have passed, which may be a few hours. No vehicle traffic is allowed through road closures while there are still people running.

Best of luck to all participants!!
